I don’t cry. I don’t cry over ships. I love my ships to death, I love the angst and fluff and everything inbetween, but I never have ever shed a tear.
Until this. I felt it coming. The muscle under my left eye kinda of twitched a bit, and then it was burning. And they stung a bit and I squinted to read through the comic again as the song looped for the second round of the melody.
And it just happened. Not even a fully-formed tear. More of like a - oh shit let me just unintentionally squeeze out a liquid piece of pure raw feeling straight from my little ol’ heart and expose it to the world via tear duct and call it a “tear”.
I think it just goes to show that artists shouldn’t judge themselves so harshly on the aesthetic appearance of their art, but the emotion that it’s going to bring to the viewer, or a feeling it may give one that opens the way to more hidden depths. You don’t have to be a Van Gogh to give people a pathway to such powerful emotions.
and I mean like this isn’t a “sad” comic- quite the opposite, I believe. I didn’t get worked up over it because it was upsetting in plot or appearance, but because it sparked a reaction that invoked the feeling of something unnameable that comes along with the strange-yet-awesome connection that this website seems to form among its users.
